Photoshop Tip: Custom Shortcut Keys (Photoshop CS6)

In this weeks “Tip Of The Week“, we are in Adobe Photoshop CS6 and we are learning how to create custom shortcut keys.

A shortcut key is a key on your keyboard that is designated to a certain action in Photoshop. For Example: V is the shortcut key for the Direct Selection tool, and when you press the V key the direct selection tool is now selected.

1.) The first thing that you need to do is open up photoshop and then go to Edit — Keyboard Shortcuts.
2.) Once the keyboard shortcuts option box is open you need to duplicate the “Photoshop Default Set” by clicking on the duplicate option.
3.) After you have duplicated the set you can now select which shortcut keys you want to change, add, or delete.

This also works for all of Adobe’s other software. (Indesign, Illustrator, etc).
